Bylaw Compliance Services Officer

Join us as a Bylaw Compliance Services Officer and put your people skills, problem‑solving and judgement to work across the district. Whether you're educating the public, carrying out inspections, or handling investigations, you'll be helping keep Kaipara safe, fair, and functioning smoothly.

What You'll Do

In this full-time role based in Mangawhai, you will:

  • Educate and support the community to proactively comply with key bylaws and legislation.
  • Monitor and investigate issues across areas like noise control, parking, freedom camping, and wastewater.
  • Prepare clear, easy-to-understand correspondence and reports that support compliance.
  • Carry out site visits, inspections, and enforcement activities where needed, with a fair and professional approach.
  • Contribute to service improvements, policy reviews, and team projects to help deliver better outcomes.

What You'll Bring
  • Experience in compliance, investigations, monitoring, fieldwork, or another role where you've applied rules or standards
  • Ability to interpret and follow legislation, policies and procedural requirements
  • Confidence communicating with people in challenging or sensitive situations
  • Strong report writing skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Initiative, effective time management and a solutions‑focused mindset
  • Direct knowledge of the RMA, LGA, Health Act, or Freedom Camping Act (an advantage)
