Assets and Infrastructure Manager

Assets & Infrastructure Manager

Senior Leadership Role | Strategic & Operational Focus

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Assets & Infrastructure Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership across Council’s asset and infrastructure portfolios.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring Council’s assets are planned, managed and invested in a way that is sustainable, financially responsible and aligned with our long-term community outcomes.

About the role

This role leads asset management practice across the Operations Group and drives consistency in standards, frameworks and decision-making. Working closely with portfolio managers and key stakeholders, you will ensure that renewals, capital investment and service delivery decisions are evidence-based and aligned with Council’s strategic objectives.

The role also has direct responsibility for a number of operational portfolios and team members, including ownership of associated budgets and oversight of operational, renewals and capital works programmes.

A key part of the position is contributing to Council’s strategic planning processes, including the Long-Term Plan, Annual Plan and Infrastructure Strategy, and supporting Council through significant sector change — including the Local Water Done Well transition through to July 2027.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for Council’s asset and infrastructure management functions
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve asset management frameworks, systems and plans
  • Lead and support consistent, best-practice asset management across the Operations Group
  • Oversee operational, renewals and capital works delivery within assigned portfolios
  • Manage budgets and ensure sound financial stewardship of Council assets
  • Contribute to Council’s Long-Term Plan, Annual Plan, Infrastructure Strategy and other strategic initiatives
  • Support organisational change and sector reform, including water services transition
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

About you

You will be a seasoned asset or infrastructure leader with strong strategic capability and proven experience working in complex, public-sector or infrastructure-intensive environments. You bring a collaborative leadership style, sound commercial judgement and the ability to translate strategy into practical, deliverable outcomes.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Significant experience in asset and infrastructure management
  • Strong understanding of asset management frameworks and lifecycle planning
  • Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams and large programmes of work
  • Financial acumen and experience managing operational and capital budgets
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Experience contributing to long-term planning and organisational change

What we offer

  • A senior leadership role with real influence and community impact
  • The opportunity to shape the future of Council’s infrastructure and asset management practices
  • A supportive and values-driven organisation
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • A competitive remuneration package

If you are ready to take on a pivotal leadership role and help shape the future of our district’s infrastructure, we would love to hear from you.
