Asset Planning Engineer

We’re calling out for an Asset Planning Engineer to provide technical inputs into the strategic, tactical and operational Asset Management functions at Council. These invaluable inputs will enable the successful long-term care of the Council’s assets.
You will be early in your career however can demonstrate that you have built up sound technical knowledge and the ability to analyse factors affecting performance and deliver workable solutions. Your background may have 2-3 years’ experience related to any 3 Waters services. You may have experience in design, costing, and the implementation of asset development programmes on a municipal level. You will analyse the data from Asset Management Information tools and computerised hydraulic models to pinpoint any shortfall in the asset’s performance. You may have experience in developing and estimating the cost of long-term asset renewal programmes. With a sound understanding of modelling your role will also include maintaining existing models, and also implementing computer models of the three waters networks, managing opportunities to improve the existing models along the way.
The ideal candidate will:
* Hold a degree/diploma in civil engineering or degree in sciences – and have at least 2-3 years’ post qualification experience;
* Interest in working with electronic information management systems
* Experience but not essential, using an Asset Management System, GIS product, and/or Computer based hydraulic network modelling would be an advantage.
* Able to demonstrate the ability to understand large sets of data and to infer new and meaningful information from it.
* Have advanced knowledge of hydraulics systems and computer modelling of piped networks
This role works in small team amongst the wider infrastructure services department. Your great planning, organisational and communication skills make you an indispensable asset to the team.
