Asset Management Team Leader

About Us

We have several Water Services opportunities within our team to deliver on our vision for Waipā to be the 'Home of Champions - Building Connected Communities'. The Waipā District - with key locations of Te Awamutu and Cambridge - is one of the fastest growing regions in Aotearoa. It is anticipated that by 2050 an additional 25,000 people will be calling Waipā home. To prepare for this growth, and to welcome more residents to our district, we have over $130 million worth of water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure projects to deliver over the next 10 years, including new treatment plants, reservoirs and reticulation renewals - it's an exciting time to be part of Water Services at Waipa!

About the Role

The opportunity has arisen for a newly created role of Asset Management Team Leader to join our Water Services business unit. The Asset Management Team Leader's role is to lead Waipā District Council's Asset Management Team to maintain and improve our asset data and asset performance understanding in order to deliver high quality, fit for purpose infrastructure plans and renewals programmes, and successfully manage new connections to our network. In order to achieve those objectives, the successful candidate will need to work closely with our Waters Strategic Lead & Programme Manager, aligning our asset management approach to our overall strategic direction, the operations team leader to best integrate and support operational experience and maintenance activities and have the ability to support and mentor others within the asset team to grow their technical and leadership skills.

Here at Waipā we have a strong commitment to investing in our people's growth and development, including our in-house leadership development programme; giving leaders the tools to competently and confidently drive team success the Waipā way.

About You

Our successful candidate will have an engineering or technical qualification plus a minimum of ten years' experience of Engineering, Planning or other relevant field, with a minimum 5 years' experience leading a team in a senior role. They will also be a strong communicator and relationship builder and have a desire to shape Waipā's infrastructure for the good of our communities, now and in the future.

Waipā District Council is a growth Council with the challenges and opportunities that affords. We have key locations of Cambridge and Te Awamutu - nestled in the heart of the Waikato, within commuting distance of Hamilton, and within easy reach of Auckland and Tauranga on weekends. Commonly known as the Home of Champions, and encircled by mountains and reserves, Waipā offers high performance sport (rowing, cycling and kayaking) and opportunities to get out into nature in abundance. Coupled with fantastic local schools and great housing, Waipā is the ideal place to achieve true work/life balance.
