The opportunity - Te āheinga

NPDC is looking for a talented Asset Engineer - Transportation to join our Delivery and Enablement Group.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to apply your engineering expertise where it truly matters - ensuring our roads, pathways, bridges and transport assets remain safe, resilient and fit for the needs of our growing community.

In this role, you'll be the technical backbone behind the planning and optimisation of NPDC's transportation assets. You'll maintain high-quality asset data, develop Forward Works Plans, validate field information and support decision-making through modelling, NPV assessments and cost-benefit analysis.

Your insights will drive evidence-based planning and directly influence renewals, maintenance programmes and the development of our Activity Management Plans.

This is a critical role for NPDC, providing the specialist engineering capability needed to manage risk effectively and support robust, defensible investment decisions - outcomes that are increasingly important as the transportation sector evolves in complexity.

You'll also be part of a highly collaborative environment, working closely with internal teams and key external partners including Waka Kotahi NZTA, Downer and TRC. Together, you'll help deliver safe, reliable and cost-efficient transport infrastructure that supports our community today and into the future.
