Help keep our aquatics operations running smoothly and support the delivery of great experiences for our community.

About the Role

We're looking for an organised, proactive and detail-focused Aquatics Services Administrator to join our team at the Splash Centre. This is a key support role that ensures our aquatics operations run efficiently across day-to-day administration, project coordination, data and compliance management, and internal communication.

The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 5 hours per day, with flexibility in how the hours are structured each day.

With a wide range of major projects underway, this role plays a vital part in keeping our systems accurate, our records up to date, and our internal processes consistent.

You'll work closely with the Aquatic Services Manager and the wider Aquatics team, supporting asset management, compliance documentation, financial processing, scheduling, reporting, and customer-facing information. If you enjoy helping others succeed, improving systems, and being the organised heart of a busy operational environment, this role is for you.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing administrative and project support for major Aquatics initiatives.
  • Preparing documents, reports, schedules, and data needed to support operational decision-making.
  • Ensuring compliance and asset management records are accurate, timely and well maintained.
  • Supporting timesheet and payroll processes through data entry and accuracy checking.
  • Coordinating internal communication, correspondence and documentation flow.
  • Assisting with expenditure tracking.
  • Supporting our commitment to delivering high-quality customer service and smooth facility operations.

What You'll Bring

You're someone who is organised, efficient and comfortable managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Essential:

  • At least 3 years' experience in business administration or a similar role.
  • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time management and accuracy, especially when handling data, records and financial information.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across teams.
  • Experience improving or supporting system and process enhancements.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in local government or public sector environments.
  • Understanding of aquatic centre or recreational facility operations.
  • Experience supporting projects or preparing schedules, reports and documentation.
  • Familiarity with asset management systems, compliance tools, or service request software.
  • Experience with booking, scheduling or payroll systems (e.g., Envibe or similar).

Why Join Us?

At Whanganui District Council, we're committed to delivering great customer experiences, building strong internal capability, and creating a positive, collaborative workplace where people can thrive.

As part of the Aquatics team, you'll be supporting a facility that plays a vital role in community wellbeing—welcoming swimmers, families, clubs, schools and visitors across a wide range of aquatic activities.

You'll also enjoy:

  • Opportunities to grow your skills in administration, project support and compliance
  • A supportive, values-driven environment
