With a clear strategy to manage future growth and development Tauranga City Council is now looking for an exceptional person to join our hard working, customer focused Strategic Policy and Planning Team based in the Tauranga CBD.
About the role:
Tauranga City Council deals with a wide variety of issues and challenges every day. While the systems and processes at Council provide an effective framework in which to operate, Council must work within the requirements of many Government Acts and legislation, and ensure that decisions at all levels are made on the basis of sound strategies and policies.
The Strategic Policy and Planning Team sits in the Chief Executive Group and this role is pivotal in the provision to Council of high quality advice and guidance on policy, strategy, and bylaw development and implementation.
The Strategic Policy Analyst will be challenged every day to produce high quality, well researched and effective options that will facilitate decisions that reflect and respond to the long term interests and needs of the community.
The range of work is diverse and challenging; and the workload is busy and varied, so this opportunity will suit someone comfortable managing multiple concurrent priorities in a fast paced environment. Council is about to embark on a comprehensive review of its bylaws so experience in developing or reviewing bylaws would be an advantage.

- A Tertiary qualification (Policy, Law, Economics or Planning) or equivalent on the job experience.
- 3+ years' experience in a similar policy, planning and/or strategy development role.
