People & Safety Officer

This is not a typical safety role! Have you had an innovative and bold idea that you have wanted to put in place? This is the opportunity that will allow you to. This role is a unique opportunity for an energetic, innovative person to work alongside the People & Capability Manager to transform safety and wellbeing in order to support the Central Hawke’s Bay District Council to THRIVE.

As a people and safety superstar, this role will deliver improvements and innovation that result in an outstanding safety framework and wellbeing initiatives for our employees and contractors.

To support our vision, we need an energetic person with a ‘can-do’ attitude who isn’t afraid of being bold. You will champion safety and wellbeing and will continue the journey to embed an organisation culture where our people are at the heart of everything we do. Ideally, you will have experience in safety and HR roles and this innovative approach to delivering the safety culture will excite and challenge you.

In this full-time role, you will be accountable for increasing the profile of Council’s safety framework by supporting operations in creating and implementing technical documents, advising on health and safety legislation and continually looking for opportunities to improve. This role will also play a key part in promoting and driving wellbeing initiatives within the organisation, as well as providing HR support to the People & Capability Manager.

To be successful you will need to share the Council’s THRIVE values and its commitment to customer excellence and smarter thinking. You will be someone with a keen eye for detail, a passion for change and the ability to build relationships across the organisation. Ideally, you will bring experience in technical writing and be able to show knowledge and a passion for continually improving safety systems.

With a thriving district and strong connected community, Central Hawke’s Bay is in a period of exciting growth and development. With some of the best beaches, fishing and diving spots, water sports, cycling, family friendly places and events, and so much more, there are plenty of great reasons to consider shifting to Central Hawke’s Bay.

Applications for this role can be made via Seek and close Sunday 03 March 2019.
