Environmental Consents Lead

This newly formed role is suited to a Team Leader or Senior Planner looking to make a career defining move. As the Environmental Consents Lead, you will be responsible for front line supervision and mentoring of the high performing Environmental Planners (7FTE) who deliver a comprehensive resource consent service fulfilling Council's statutory obligations.

You will be a proven people leader, sharing your extensive knowledge to upskill and develop your team members, as you also provide technical specialist advice to resolve complex RMA issues and undertake peer reviews. You will have a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships as you work collaboratively with key stakeholders, showcasing your conflict resolution skills when working through sensitive issues.

You will be future focused and committed to delivering sustainable solutions for the thriving New Plymouth District, as you guarantee legal compliance with the Resource Management Act, Building Act, District Plan and Infrastructural Standards. You will have a problem solving mindset, striving for continuous improvement whilst also managing stakeholder expectations.

Ideally you will have a tertiary qualification in resource management and eight plus years' experience in resource consent processing and policy. You will also be action orientated and have the ability to deliver on multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
