About the Role

Based in either Dargaville or Mangawhai, we have an exciting opportunity for a talented District Planner to join our Planning & Policy team. This role involves taking charge of the District Plan to ensure the district continues to thrive while protecting our pristine environment. Reporting to the Team Leader Policy you will:

• Develop, maintain, review and monitor the District Plan
• Carry out research and analysis to assist in policy development
• Provide advice on key social, economic, environmental and cultural issues in the wider community
• Establish and maintain strong and meaningful relationships with local communities
• Assist in developing core planning documents including the LTP and Annual Plan.

This position has the ability to have a high level of influence and impact and would ideally suit someone who has at least 5 years' relevant experience.

About You

• You are an enthusiastic and passionate person with:
• A tertiary qualification in resource management, planning or other related discipline
• Eligibility for NZPI membership
• Knowledge and understanding of legislation relating to resource management and local government
• At least five years' experience in resource management - either policy or regulatory
• Demonstrated project management skills
