Lower Hutt is one of ten chosen Healthy Families NZ communities. Hutt City Council has been contracted by the Ministry of Health to lead this prevention initiative within Lower Hutt. This position is based within the Leisure Active team at Hutt City Council and is a 12 month fixed-term position.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Manage and deliver local communications and content creation across a variety of platforms
- Communications support for Healthy Families Lower Hutt initiatives
- Manage Healthy Families Lower Hutt's online presence and communications channels (website, intranet, social media, stakeholder newsletter)
- Brand management and basic design work
- Develop narrative around positive change happening in the community and help create a movement for better health.
- Engage and maintain collaborative relationships with relevant local organisations and partners, including the wider Healthy Families NZ communications network of practice.
- Work collaboratively with the Manager, Strategic Communications and Engagement Advisor and Team to facilitate community engagement and involvement in developing and co-designing Healthy Families preventive health messaging.
Knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of health promotion and social marketing (as a health promotion intervention) is desired, as is the ability to communicate in Te Reo, a tertiary or postgraduate degree in media, communications or a related field and a minimum of two years' experience in a related field.
