As a Tararua District Council employee working within the Tararua Alliance, the Civil Engineering Cadet is responsible for completing their course of academic study, gaining practical experience and completing technical development and applied learning to meet the needs of the overall cadet programme.
Working within the Tararua Alliance, they will be expected to develop skills in a range of different fields across the transportation, 3waters management and operations activities. Through the Tararua Alliance and Council’s partnership with Downer NZ, they will also have access to the Downer cadet programme tools and support as well as young professional development and networking opportunities.
The Civil Engineering Cadet will contribute to a successful service delivery team, through effective and efficient completion of projects.
About you
We want to hear from people who:
- Full class 1 Driver’s Licence
- Demonstrated interest in the civil engineering industry and preferably work experience (holiday or otherwise) in the industry or other related practical industries
- Proven willingness and capability to learn
- Problem solving skills
- Leadership skills or potential
- Ability to communicate with all levels in an organization
- A great attitude; a team player showing initiative and motivated to do a good job.
