Chief Information Officer

Right now in Christchurch, we're building the world's newest city. This means we're after the innovative, the fresh, and the new. The Chief Information Officer is a key leadership role within the Christchurch City Council and has accountability for leading and managing the delivery of technology services across the organisation - and not just the now technology but anticipating what is coming! We are looking for a strong and experienced leader for our IT Unit with responsibilities across all facets of technology and information management.

In this role, you will focus on balancing innovation and continuous improvement whilst ensuring operational service delivery excellence. You will provide strategic guidance and initiatives to support decision making around competing and increasing demands for technology. Key will be your ability to guide the delivery of organisational technology outcomes through proven strategic implementation whilst balancing prioritisation of technology activities and integration of business systems. Your ability to interpret information and translate into tangible objectives is vital to this role along with building strong relationships with key business and technology stakeholders.

We need to continually challenge the way we do things, in order to help the Council find different, modern ways of connecting with our citizens.

• effective influencing skills with the ability to negotiate complicated situations, utilising partnerships to achieve shared objectives
• a relevant tertiary qualification paired with extensive industry experience in a complex information management and technology environment
• strong leadership and interpersonal skills to work with and support others effectively and communicate proactively
• extensive experience in the identification of information management and technology services required to support an organisation's strategy and business requirements
• a 'pragmatic, can do attitude'.
