CBD Facilitator

New Plymouth District, with a population of around 74,000 people, makes up the largest district in Taranaki. With the stunning Mt Taranaki as a backdrop and the warm iron sands along our coast, there is a lot to offer and challenge an enthusiastic events professional throughout the district and region.

We are looking for someone with project experience and a community focus to develop and lead a strategic programme to transform the New Plymouth CBD.

You will deliver creative and effective initiatives aimed at revitalising the city centre of New Plymouth. Pro-active by nature, you will identify opportunities to develop and improve events and collaborate with retailers, associations and other community groups to ensure a lively and dynamic events calendar for the CBD.

To achieve these tasks you will build and maintain effective community stakeholder relationships, collaborate with teams across the Council and liaise with the Council community partnership team.

The successful candidate will be someone who uses their initiative, builds effective relationships, be process driven and well organised. In addition a keen eye for discovering opportunities for new events or improving existing events held in the CBD will be required. If you have a relevant qualification and a minimum of three years' experience in project management, planning, event management and/ or community work, we want to hear from you today. Experience in the cultural sector or local government processes would be an advantage, as would event management experience in a city centre environment.

At the New Plymouth District Council we aim to create and sustain a truly rewarding workplace environment for our staff. We have put together an integrated Total Rewards Framework that spans Wellbeing, Development, Benefits, Culture and Recognition. The NPDC Total Rewards Framework provides a diverse range of opportunities and benefits for our staff.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career in event management. If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you today!
