Building Officer - Compliance


Our Building Assurance team are proud contributors to the growth of our community. We take our responsibilities seriously and provide peace of mind by delivering a high standard of building consent compliance services across the Tasman District. Our focus is on developing a progressive Building Consent Authority with great people, great support and great tools. We like to challenge ourselves to do better - in everything we do.

As a Building Compliance Officer you will provide technically and legally sound documentation recommending an appropriate course of action for non-compliance incidents, carry out building Warrant of Fitness inspections and help to ensure commercial building owners within the Tasman District maintain their safety systems.

While applicants with experience in a regulatory or investigatory field are preferred, if you are from a trade background and/or are technically minded, keen to learn and would like to start on a new career path, then we would also love to hear from you. It's all about attitude and an ability to work in a fast paced team environment where support and camaraderie is paramount.

We are offering a comprehensive training and development plan for candidates with an entry level qualification or experience in the building industry. Of course working in a digital environment is a significant component of this role so we are looking for someone who is also technology savvy. The successful applicant will also demonstrate well-developed problem solving abilities and excellent customer service ethos.
