The role

The Biosecurity Pest Plants officer is part of a Biosecurity Team that delivers pest management across the Northland region.

The purpose of the role is to reduce the detrimental effects of pest plants on primary production, health and natural ecosystems. Activities will include targeting problematic pest plants, education, and growing community capacity for pest plant control.

The position is based in the sub-tropical city of Whangarei, about two hours' drive north of Auckland.

What you will bring

You will ideally have a relevant tertiary qualification or several years' experience working in a similar role and have knowledge and experience of working with urban and rural communities across a range of cultures.

You will be proficient in plant identification, how to manage and control plant pests and be able to use GIS mapping software

We are seeking someone who is motivated about making a positive difference in our environment and who also enjoys working with communities to grow their capacity to manage plant pests.
