Animal Liaison Officer

Wellington City Council is looking for an enthusiastic, customer focused officer to fill our newly created Animal Liaison Officer role. The focus of this role will be to deliver an education, monitoring and compliance programme in relation to our animal bylaw and animal policy. You will develop relationships with key stakeholders such as the SPCA, the Ministry for Primary Industries and animal welfare groups and will work with these organisations to develop an emergency management plan for animals in Wellington.

You will also provide education, advice and guidance to our customers on animal related matters. You will be comfortable interpreting legislative requirements and turning them into operational plans whilst maintaining a high level of customer service. You will also be an excellent communicator who builds professional and effective relationships with our customers and stakeholders at all levels.

Ideally you will hold a relevant tertiary qualification and be able to demonstrate work experience related to animal welfare. A background in compliance, complaint investigation and resolution will be also useful. As part of our busy team you will be given autonomy for your own work programme, therefore excellent planning, and time management skills are a must! A current and valid driver's licence is essential for this role.
